The Maasai, one of the indigenous people of Africa... Posted by maasaiwarrior on 17th October 2006

The Maasai, one of the indigenous people of Africa are at the verge of extinction spiritually, as the government pursues capital “development” at the detriment and ethnic cleansing of a people who uphold the values of humanity. While at the same time contributing so much to the economy of the countries they occupy.

Taking away land or denying him use of this natural resource which he has never owned, kills him as his responsibility on this earth is to take care of life and let life take care of him. The cow can no longer be sustained in the system that he is being forced to follow. He has to stand by and watch as his cattle overgraze and starve to death, in the plots allocated for them by the government, whose members own thousands of hectares of land lying fallow. He has to do with your price tagging of his cattle, he lost 7 yesterday today 9 can’t move as there is no food and draught is taking its toll on them.

What you decide to give him in this time of desperation, he has no say. The city life to him he is dead, as his faith has been taken away from him. Has to be second to you, as he cannot compete with you and beat you in your culture. He does not Bellevue in what you believe in. Are we ready to stand by doing nothing, waiting for the extinction of another people. History has seen many of this community’s go and leave us with no other options, but to be imaginary chasers. Positively, we intend to basically advocate and create awareness on the minority person’s rights. You as an individual being a part of this, as you has your own journey, which you are solely responsible for.

It seeks to highlight the human rights abuse perpetrated by the “majority” innocently or ignorantly being manipulated by the few, co-operate and need creators and inventors. What we are saying is civilization or development does not have to be uniformly defined according to any single person or people’s culture and beliefs. The Maasai as an example define civilization as the love of life, where carrying a spear is more advanced compared to a gun. Where money is imaginary in comparison to the cow which is real. Where ownership of land, is ownership of the almighty. Who says that there is only one door leading to civilization, don’t I have the right to follow my own or is someone threatened by the existence of another route. Where one does not need a wardrobe full of cloths to appreciate that he is smart and clothed.

Not chasing after the fashion labels and brands that conditions the chasers and enslaves them.We don’t refuse or seek to fight the system all we are asking for is recognition and our democratic right to proclaim our right as people. Can I be left to decide on the definition that fits with his my spiritual and self-being?.A system where we have to put an imaginary value as security for our worthless lives, paying to live. And not that there is no other option but one is scared of letting go of his catch, that destroys all the values of Humanity.I have accepted the situation and accepted that it is so, and now seeks to get a way, to generate a positive change and development. Turn around the situation that the minority in among the majority of the oppressed and enslaved find themselves in. You realisation and support in the campaign to awaken the human race will be appreciated and that’s what is called for. Can’t you stand up for what you believe in, how long you will flow with the selfish demands of a few individuals who are not sure of the direction they are leading to. We choose to flow with the flow of nature and that’s what we can never beat, as we try to prove ourselves we destroy and threaten our own existence.

Wake up and accept reality stop hiding behind imaginations!! We all know that life is real and not a rehearsal. Charity Begins at home!

  • information about the WSF2007
1º de fevereiro de 2007, por Ceren Altincekic

    To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter on behalf of International Institute for Justice and Development, Boston, USA. We are currently working on our newsletter that is sent out to more than 8000 individuals and organizations and we are writing an article about the WSF2007. If you could give me some information about the forum and a name to cite, I would be hugely grateful.

I have a couple of questions regarding the seventh forum that was conducted in Nairobi:

    1) What was the major accomplishment of the forum? 2) What was the main topic of discussion and the conclusion regarding that topic? 3) What are the concrete goals and the changes the WSF is hoping to implement in less developed countries, especially in Africa?

Thank you very much for your time and concern.

    Sincerely,

Ceren Altincekic International Institute for Justice and Development www.iijd.org
